From Mid-West Meet-Cute to Oregon “I Do”s – Makenna & Jesse at Mt. Hood Organic Farms Wedding

Makenna and Jesse’s story started in the mid west, but adventure called—and they packed it all up for a new chapter in Oregon. Which, TBH, feels like the perfect metaphor for their wedding day: vibrant, unexpected, and rooted in beauty. And where better to celebrate than with a Mt. Hood Organic Farms Wedding?

Picture the most jaw-dropping view of Mt. Hood framed by orchards, wildflowers, and a sunset that looks like it hired its own stylist. That alone is enough for the perfect venue but the reception hall and getting ready cottages have their own perfect charm. Think Moroccan tiled walls, intricate wooden doors opening to the outdoor courtyard and a black and white tile dance floor.

A Palette Straight Out of a Sunset Mood Board

These two didn’t shy away from color. We’re talking golden yellows, light blue and turquoise, terracotta oranges, pinks – like someone bottled up the last ten minutes of a perfect sunset and turned it into a wedding.

The design leaned playful-but-intentional: mix-and-match glassware, custom handmade floral napkins that doubled as party favors and florals that looked like they grew there on purpose. It was eclectic in the most elevated way – Portland cool with a “we actually care about the details” twist.

Mt. Hood Organic Farms Ceremony with That View

If you’ve never been to a wedding at Mt. Hood Organic Farms, here’s the thing—you could literally stand in front of a blank wall and it would still be epic because Mt. Hood is just right there. But Makenna and Jesse said “nah, let’s frame it perfectly.”

They exchanged vows in the gardens with the mountain in full view, perfectly framed by the trees like something out of “The Secret Garden” After a cocktail hour on the lawn, the party moved to the reception hall- an old renovated Apple house with long tables and the perfect styled place settings.

Farm-to-Table, But Make It Family Style

Dinner was one of those long-table, pass-the-bread moments where conversation flows as easily as the wine. Local produce (as in from the farm), fresh herbs, homemade pasta—it was Oregon on a plate. The kind of meal where you try to remember every bite because it’s that good. There’s something about a family styled dinner too that just makes a wedding that much more special.

Why Mt. Hood Organic Farms Is Wedding Goals

It’s not just the view (although, hello, THE VIEW). It’s the way the place feels – like an old friend’s home that just happens to be dropped into a postcard. The orchards, the gardens, the historic building… every corner is photogenic without even trying. Even walking away from Mt. Hood to the car, you see a perfect view of Mt. Adams.

Plus, it’s in the Hood River area, which is basically an adventure and wine country hybrid.

Things to Do in Hood River

If you’re making a weekend of it (and you should), here’s what to check out:

  • Fruit Loop Drive: Wineries, cideries, and farm stands galore.
  • Waterfall Hikes: Tamanawas Falls is a fave.
  • Downtown Hood River: Cute shops, breweries, and coffee shops.
  • Windsurfing or Kiteboarding: The Columbia River Gorge is basically the sport’s capital.
  • Marchesi Vineyards: Cozy, Italian-style winery vibes.
